Licensure and Certification by Program

Pursuant to 34 C.F.R. 668.43(a)(5)(v), Washington State University is required to disclose consumer information regarding our curricular programs that are designed to meet, or are advertised as meeting, requirements for professional licensure or certification in any U.S. state or territory. This regulation also requires us to determine whether our licensure- or certification-related programs satisfy the educational requirements for professional licensure or certification in the states or territories where our prospective and current students will be located during their education.

Accordingly, we are required to disclose for each program that leads to licensure or certification whether:

  1. The program meets the educational requirements for professional licensure or certification in a specific state or territory;
  2. The program does not meet the educational requirements for professional licensure or certification in a specific state or territory.

Because requirements differ dramatically by occupational category, as well as by state or territory, we encourage prospective and current students to check their state or territory legislative codes to verify the information presented here. Students considering a program leading to licensure or certification are strongly encouraged to contact the appropriate agency directly for the most current requirements and to discuss their individual situation, particularly since some requirements (e.g., minimum age, fingerprinting, etc.) fall outside of the scope of our educational programs.  Students considering relocation should contact their program and consult with the appropriate agency directly to check eligibility requirements.

We will update this information on an annual basis on July 1 of each year.

Baccalaureate Programs

  • WSU LA is accredited by the LAAB. Students graduating from accredited programs are eligible to sit for the LARE (licensure exam) upon graduating and apply for licensure via CLARB.
