Courses

Units in the Division of Academic Engagement and Student Achievement develop and offer undergraduate courses designed to help WSU students develop skills and competencies to succeed at college and beyond, and meet graduation requirements.

They cover a broad range of topics, such as developing personal academic strategies, exploring majors and careers, building leadership skills, developing critical thinking, and learning and practicing writing skills, among others.


Categories of Courses

  • UCORE/University Common Requirements: WSU’s general education program that helps students acquire broad knowledge and transferable skills to complement their major programs of study.
  • UNIV: A curriculum of university-wide courses organized into four broad categories that introduce topics ranging from career exploration to undergraduate research, from academic strategies to internships, and from transfer success to peer leadership and global citizenship.
  • WRIT: A collection of courses that support student’s efforts to master writing in the context of their field of study.
  • Global Leadership Certificate: A flexible program that enhances students’ marketability in an increasingly international job market. DAESA offers the Global Leadership Certificate in partnership with the Office of International Programs.
